Serra do Topo/ Fajã dos Vimes
This is a trail that was once used by the ancient inhabitants of this Fajã to access the milking of cattle, doing it twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Like other trails, it starts with the contrast of green landscapes tinged with blue by hydrangeas (in their blooming season) and the blue of the sea. With a steep descent, almost all of it in staircase with about 1250 steps worked in stone. Here it is advisable to use sticks and appropriate footwear because in certain areas it can be muddy and slippery. It starts very open to the surrounding landscape and then closes in on its own flora, only opening again when you reach the road to Fajã dos Vimes. Before the end of the trail, you will pass through the old access road to Fajã dos Vimes, opened in 1956. At the end you can taste the delicious and unique coffee produced in Europe accompanied by a visit to Café Nunes plantation and the Casa de Artesanato (Handicraft House) where the famous high point quilts are produced on manual wooden looms.• Confortable and appropriate hiking attire*
